According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook for 2008-09, job openings for chefs, cooks, and food preparation workers are expected to be plentiful through 2016; however, competitiion should be keen for jobs in the top kitchens of higher end restaurants. Althought job growth will create may new positions, the overwhelming majority of job openings will stem from the need to replace workers who leave this large occupational group. May chef, cook, and food preparation worker jobs are attractive to people seeking first-time or short-term employment, additional income, or a flexible work schedule. Employers typically hire a large number of part-time workers, but many of htese workers soon transfer to other occupations or stop working, creating numerous openings for those entering the field. At higher end restaurants, the fast pace, long hours, and high energy levels required to succeed also cause some top chefs and cooks to leave for other jobs, creating job openings.

The need for trained people is the single biggest challenge facing the restaurant industry today. This means that the best trained chefs will command increasing salaries and benefits in the years to come.

A Few Words from Businesses that Employ our Graduates:

"I am the chef recruiter for Disney World in Orlando Florida. I find LCI to have students that are ready to work in all levels of service. The students are also very focus during the interviews. Most of the students are ready for Table Service restaurant and some are ready for Banq's in resorts hotels. The schools faculty is very involved in their students. Each time we go up the LCI we feel very much at home."
